Description
Every visitor of Volax (or Volakas) area comes across a remarkable phenomenon; the enormous rocks scattered around a vast territory. The elements have sculpted the giant granite boulders over the millennia and transformed the surrounding landscape into an almost lunar setting. It is an exceptionally bizarre and interesting sight, provoking the curiosity about how these unique rock formations are created, and why they are found only in this particular area. Whatever the answer, it is a truly spectacular panorama not to be missed.
Volax village is situated here, a charming little settlement with a central square fittingly decorated with one of the huge rocks. There are also a couple cozy tavernas and cafes in the square, and several workshops nearby, where local craftsmen weave traditional willow baskets.
