Description
Bourgi (or Bourtzi) is the Tower that embellishes the eastern side of Karystos port. Constructed during the era of Venetian dominance (1366-1470), with high walls and murder holes which were used by the defenders to pour scorching oil or tar into the invaders. The constant use of this fortress allowed its excellent preservation and today it is used as a venue for festivities.
