Description
One of the oldest Byzantine churches on the island, dating to 1200 AD. Built beside the ruins of the great archaic temple of Hellanius Zeus, an important sacred monument built in 13th century BC. On the nearby archeological site, parts of a Hellenistic wall and fragments from ancient inscriptions are still visible while other artifacts excavated here, are on display in the archaeological museum of Aegina.
